“POLITICAL” TONGUE
Politicians twist their tongues
To talk, to lie, to lick
And sometimes they really click
A Universal truth never belied
For centuries since governance began
Sometimes they only lick and kick
And live longer than ordinary mortals
For most of them are rhinos
Living in concrete jungles
Every five years they arrive
With folded hands and trained smile
They come walking, sometimes barefoot
And later ride in cars with light and sound
Flying past us who gave them the convoy
Splashing mud on us , at times, on the road
Or knocking us down unawares on the road
Aware fully are they ,we are powerless
At least for the next five years till the next.
We forgive and forget ,and the story repeats
We learn the philosophy of politics
And also ,sometimes, the betrayal of politics
All at what cost , the cost of a vote ?
We never know its cost when we cast it !!
